Dewolf "Dee" Dykes of Bristol, Tenn., died Monday, July 16, 2001, in Wellmont Hospice House. Mr. Dykes was the son of the late John and Mary (Davis) Dykes. He was born and raised in Hawkins County, Tenn., and had been a resident of Bristol since 1955. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army serving in the Korean conflict. He was a retired appliance technician for Pete Moore Appliance and former employee of East Tennessee Appliance. Mr. Dykes was an elder of Rosemont Presbyterian Church. Survivors include his wife, Nancy Jones Dykes; one son, David Dewolf Dykes of Gainesville, Ga.; two sisters, Mary Louise Price of Kingsport and Grace Dobbs of Church Hill, Tenn.; and two brothers, Raymond Dykes of Church Hill and Paul Dykes of Kingsport. Funeral services will be conducted at 1 p.m. Wednesday, July 18, 2001, in Akard Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. R. Alan Chapman officiating. Entombment will follow in Glenwood Cemetery Mausoleum. Pallbearers will be Randy Bates, Randy White, Gunther Neuman, Dwight Dykes, Jerry Dykes, Mike Adams, James Adams and Kenny Adams. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials be made to Rosemont Presbyterian Church or Wellmont Hospice House. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m., Tuesday, July 17, 2001, at Akard Funeral Home. Akard Funeral Home is serving the family of Mr. Dykes. BRISTOL HERALD COURIER JULY 17, 2001
