Gerald "Jerry" Koslow, 69, of Kingsport, went to be with the Lord on Wednesday evening, May 12, 2010, at his residence after a long illness.
Jerry was born in Moundsville, West Virginia and moved to Huntington, W.Va., where he attended Huntington Vinson High School. He played football at Vinson, was selected, All State Linesman for two years and was boy honored at his graduation class. He graduated from Marshall University with a BBA degree. Jerry came to Kingsport where he worked for Eastman as a Cost Accountant. He spent most of his 31 years as a system development analyst retiring in 1993. He was a member of Indian Springs Christian Church.
Preceding him in death was a son, Jerry Todd Koslow and his father Mike Koslow.
Survivors include his loving and dedicated wife of 39 years, Faye Helton Koslow of the home; his daughter, Terri Koslow Wood & husband, Joel of Knoxville; three grandsons, Matthew Wood of Charlotte, NC, Austin Wood and Nicholas Wood, both of Knoxville; his mother, Flo Williamson Koslow; sister, Sandy Thomas; brother, Michael Koslow; sister in law, Dawna Koslow, all of Huntington, W.Va., several nieces and nephews along with special friends, Paul Reynolds and Carroll Reed.
The family will receive friends from 5 - 7 pm on Friday, May 14, 2010 at Carter-Trent Funeral Home, 520 Watauga Street, Kingsport. Funeral services will follow in the funeral home chapel at 7 pm with Rev. Mike Pelham, officiating. Music will be provided by Melissa Woods.
Entombment services will be held at 1 pm on Saturday, May 15, 2010 at East Lawn Memorial Park, Kingsport. Pallbearers will be Everett Helton, Tom Hill, Matthew Wood, Austin Wood, Paul Reynolds and Carroll Reed. Honorary Pallbearers are Gale Manley, Bucky Doran, Leon Doran, Nicholas Wood, and Rick Davidson. Family and friends are asked to meet at the cemetery by 12:55 pm.
In lieu of flowers memorial contributions will be made to Amedisys Hospice, 200 Professional Park Drive, Kingsport, TN 37660 or to the American Heart Association, 208 Sunset Drive, Johnson City, TN 37601.
Carter-Trent Funeral Home, downtown Kingsport is serving the Koslow family.
