Obituary for Larry Reed
Larry “Dennis” Reed, 58, of Bristol, Tennessee died Saturday, August 9, 2008, at his home. He was born in Bristol, Virginia to Leslie Reed and the late Mary Ruth King Reed. He served in the U.S. Army for eight years and worked as a lab technician for Eastman Chemical Company for 39 years. He was a member of Shelby Street Church of God. Survivors include his wife,Jackie Baker Reed; his son, Travis Dennis Reed and his wife April; his father, Leslie Reed; two sisters, Kathy Miller and Nancy Gilley; one brother, Curtis Reed ad his wife Marti; two grand daughters, Brooke and Sarah Reed, and several nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends from 6 until 9 o’clock Monday evening at Oakley-Cook Funeral Home. The funeral service will be conducted at 2 o’clock Tuesday afternoon at the funeral home with Dr. B. Darrell Bewley officiating assisted by Dr. J. Samuel Rasnake. The committal service and interment will follow in Sunrise Cemetery in Bluff City. Pallbearers will be Ronnie Wilson, Mike Lawson, Kerry Jones, Rick Gray, Milton Worley and Ronnie Jones. Military graveside rites will be conducted by the Bristol V.F.W. Honor Guard. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be sent to the American Cancer Society, 508 Princeton Road, Suite 102, Johnson City, TN 37601. Condolences and memories may be sent to and viewed at www.oakley-cook.com. Mr. Reed and his family are in the care of Oakley-Cook Funeral Home.
