Obituary for Pearl Harris
Pearl Harris, 83, of Bluff City, Tennessee, died on Monday, July 5, 2010, at her home. She was a daughter of the late James Locke Smith and Verda Ellen Smith. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by twelve brothers and sisters. She was raised in Middlesboro, Kentucky, and moved to Bluff City in 2003. She was a member of New Life Baptist Church in Bluff City and was an avid quilter. Mrs. Harris is survived by her daughters, Annette Brigman and husband Clifford of Ypsilanti, MI, Linda Gaines and husband Charles of Mt Carmel, TN, Bonnie Christian of Kingsport, TN, Darlene Fatigato and husband Tony of Cleveland, TN, Ginny Ross and husband David of El Reno, OK, Nora Ross of Kingsport, TN, Kay Crofford and husband Jim of Yukon, OK, and Lois Willis and husband Hank of Bluff City, TN; sons, Monte Harris and wife Brenda of Middlesboro, KY, Samuel Harris and wife Patsy of Middlesboro, KY, and Jeffery Harris and wife Lois of Sophia, NC; sisters, Mary Cullum of Middlesboro, KY and Norma Cowan of London, KY; brothers, Clyde Smith of Colmar, KY and Paul Smith of Colmar, KY; 31 grandchildren, 21 great grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends from 6:00 until 7:45 Thursday evening, July 8, 2010, at Oakley-Cook Funeral Home. The funeral service will be held at 4:00 Friday afternoon, July 9, 2010 at Oakley-Cook Funeral Home with Rev. Ray Smith officiating. The committal service and interment will follow in Sunrise Cemetery. Grandsons will serve as pallbearers.
