Carrey Leon "Turtle" Garrett Sr., of Harrison, died early Friday morning, Dec. 26, 2003, in a local hospital.

He was born April 19, 1952, and he was a member of Gamble Road Baptist Church.

He was preceded in death by his father, Henry Garrett; mother, Dessie Garrett; two brothers, Lowell, and Doyl Garrett; one sister, Iva Lee Gray.

He is survived by his wife, Judy Harden Garrett; son, Carrey "Simon" Leon Garrett Jr.; daughter, Tammy Garcia; two grandchildren, Carrey "Peanut" Leon Garrett III, and Elizabeth Garcia, all of Harrison; one brother, W.T. Garrett of Cleveland, Tenn.; three sisters, Mary Welch of Harrison, Evelyn Lackey of Georgetown and Sue Hudson of Cleveland; also several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be on Tuesday at noon at Gamble Road Baptist Church with the Rev. Gurney Beard and the Rev. Ronnie Dotson officiating.

Burial will follow in the Holder Cemetery behind the church.

The family will receive friends today from 1-9 p.m. and also on Monday from 9 a.m. until 9 p.m. at Turner Funeral Home, Highway 58 Chapel.

Turner Funeral Home, 3913 Webb Road at Highway 58, is in charge of arrangements, phone 894-2012.
