J. Parks Coulter, aged 70, died at 5 o'clock yesterday afternoon at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Ruth St. Clair, 911 Barton avenue, after several months illness.

He was born in Hamilton county and has resided at Sale Creek and Falling Water most of his life.

He joined the Cumberland Presbyterian church at Coulterville forty-five years ago, later removing his membership to the Falling Water church. He lived a quiet, consecrated Christian life, and his many excellent traits of character won for him the esteem of a host of good friends, who will deeply regret to learn of his demise.

Those surviving are his widow, three daughters, Mrs. Annie Jones, of East Lake; Mrs. Myrtle Tombras, of East Ridge, and Mrs. Ruth St. Clair, of North Chattanooga; three sons. Fred, of Auburn, Mich.; Edgar, of Dunbar, Wis., and Paul, of this city; one brother, L. L. of Rhea Springs, Tenn., and two sisters, Mrs. Armanda Aiken and Mrs. Mary Abel, both of Cleveland, Tenn., also several grandchildren, and quite a large number of relatives in Rhea and Hamilton counties.

The body was removed to the R. J. Coulter funeral home, where it will remain until the funeral service, which will be announced later pending the arrival of relatives.

Funeral services for J. Parks Coulter, aged 70, who died Sunday at his home, 911 Barton avenue, were held Tuesday afternoon at 2:30 o'clock from the Sale Creek Presbyterian church, the Rev. J. A. Whitaker officiating. Pallbearers were S. A. Coulter, J. L. Coulter, Tobe Gray, R. T. Settles, Bert Brown and Grady Brown.

Interment was in Hutchison cemetery at Coulterville. Coulter's was in charge.
