Dennis Robert McClendon, 79, of Soddy Daisy, died peacefully on Saturday, December 18, 2010. He was born May 24, 1931 in Soddy Daisy.
Dennis was the co-owner of Masonry and Roof Deck Services, Inc. and co-founder of Montlake Public Shooting Center. He was a member of the Red Bank Presbyterian Church, the Red Bank Masonic Lodge, Alhambra Shriners and the Chattanooga Scottish Rite Free Masonry. He was preceded in death by six sisters, Gladys Worley, Alice McClendon, Pearl Smith, Tilda Johnson, Ruby Grant and Frieda McClendon and four brothers, Clifford, Clyde, Joe and John Junior.
Survivors include his wife of 61 years, Bernice Lewis McClendon; four daughters, Donna (Randy) Snorek of Chattanooga; Darlene (Michael) Wooten of Kennesaw, GA; Cindy (Chris) Girard of Buford, GA; and Suzanne (William) Zadarosni, Dunwoody, GA; sisters, Viva (Charles) Moore and Rosa Lee (Jack) Gibson; six grandchildren along with several nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends.
Services will be held Monday, December 20, 2010 at 1:00 p.m. in the funeral home chapel with Rev. Grant Chauncey and Rev. Everett Gossett officiating. Burial will follow at Varner Cemetery on Mowbray Mountain. Visitation is Sunday from 3:00 to 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home. His family request that in lieu of flowers donations be sent to Varner Cemetery in care of Joe Ed Johnson, 8606 Pebblestone Drive, Soddy Daisy, TN 37379.
