Glenn Marshall Starnes, 93, passed away Thursday, February 16, 2023 in his home. He was born in Augusta, Georgia on September 2, 1929. Glenn was the son of the late George H. Starnes and Lillie Whatley Starnes. He was raised in North Augusta, South Carolina. He was a United States Navy Veteran having joined in 1947 and later retired after twenty-seven years of service. Wherever the Navy transferred him, he always found a church to worship in. After Glenn’s retirement, he and his wife moved back to her home place on Mowbray Mountain, which he loved. Not only was he a devout Christian, he loved God’s great outdoors.
Glenn married Beulah “Bea” Lewis in 1960 and they later had three children, Len M. Starnes, the late Lorie V. Starnes, and Kay Delaney.
Visitation is 1:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. Monday, February 20, 2023 with services following at 2:00 p.m. with Rev. Phil Eval officiating. Burial will follow in Grant-Varner Cemetery.
