Billy Gene Young Jr., of Spring City, died Friday, Feb. 11, 2000, at Rhea Medical Center in Dayton. He was 38.

Born Oct. 11, 1961, in Hollywood, Fla., Mr. Young lived in Spring City for the last 11 years, moving from Sarasota, Fla. He was a civil engineer employed with Jim Cross Heating and Air and was a member of Margate Baptist Church in Ft. Lauderdale, Fla.

He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Lloyd and Gladys Hodges, and grandfather, Floyd (Cotton) Young.

Survivors include his father, Billy Gene Young Sr. of Soddy-Daisy; mother and step-father, Pat P. and Jim Cross of Spring City; grandmother, Helen Young of Soddy-Daisy; brothers, Warren Hale Roland of Coco Beach, Fla., and B.J. Young of Lawton, Okla..; sisters, Cherie Cook of Houston, Texas, Lisa Stout of Spring City, and Carie Young of Soddy-Daisy; and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services were conducted Sunday in the chapel of Vaughn Funeral Home with Rev. Calvin Nunley officiating. Burial was in East Soddy Church of God Cemetery in Soddy-Daisy. Vaughn Funeral Home in Spring City was in charge of the arrangements.
