James "Jim" Hoyett Cross Sr., of Spring City, died Sunday, Jan. 6, 2002, at his home. He was 63.

Born in Delight, Ariz., to the late Arthur C. and Isabell Powell Cross, Jim moved to Spring City in 1972 from Michigan. The owner/operator of Jim Cross Heating & Air, he served in the U.S. Air Force and was a member of St. Matthews Episcopal Church in Dayton.

Survivors include his wife, Patricia Parrott Cross of Spring City; son, James H. Cross Jr. of Johnson City, Tenn.; step-daughters, Lisa Stout Turner of Spring City, and Cheri Cook of Houston, Texas; step-son, Warren Roland of Coca, Fla.; brothers, Fletcher Cross of Spring City, Kenneth Cross of Lake Charles, La., and Eartest Cross of Harrison, Idaho; sisters, Sybill Owens of Shreveport, La., Frances Hillis of Atkins, Ark., and Martha Ann Jones of Milpitis, Calif.; 12 grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be conducted Thursday at 2 p.m., in the chapel of Vaughn Funeral Home with Rev. Kenneth Goins officiating. Burial will follow in East Soddy Church of God Cemetery.

The family will receive friends today from 6 to 8 p.m., at the funeral home. Vaughn Funeral Home in Spring City is in charge of the arrangements.
