This cemetery is known by 3 names: Painter Cemetery, Burke's Chapel Cemetery and Schnietman (Schniedman, Sniteman (various spelling) Cemetery.
All 3 names have been used on death certificates and obituaries.
The Cemetery was established about 1840 by Christian Schneidman (Schnietman, Sniteman) as a family cemetery.
Per the book, "History of Hamilton County and Chattanooga - Vol 1 Pgs. 265 -1931, for "Sniteman Cemetery" - "The oldest grave is a slab-covered tomb which is unmarked. Mrs. Painter, who lives nearby and is the granddaughter of Preston Gann and Mary Lemons Gann, says that the old grave is that of her great uncle, George Gann, an early settler in the county."
The entrance to the cemetery is located at the intersection of Hixson Pike and Destiny Rd. Once you turn on Destiny Rd, there is a driveway on the immediate left.
Veer to the left on the driveway to reach the cemetery. Climb the stairs to the well maintained, active cemetery.
