Larkin “L. J.” Walker Jr., 77, a lifelong resident of Soddy Daisy and a retiree of the Hamilton County Government, died at home on Saturday, January 2, 2010.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Larkin Walker Sr. and Emma Walker; sister, Bonnie Harvey of Dunlap; brothers, Bobby Walker, Clay Walker and Quay Walker, all of Soddy Daisy.
He is survived by his wife, Shirley Walker; sons, Johnny (Betty) Walker of Mobile, Al.; Jerry (Rachel) Walker of Yucaipa, Ca.; daughters, Joy Walker (Ron) Wilde and Judith Walker (Ricky) Carter, all of Gautier, Ms.; stepchildren, Nancy Gregory and Thomas Shoats, both of Soddy Daisy; grandchildren, Richie, Ronnie, Jennifer, Jerred, Johnathan, Joey, Susie, Jada and Nathan; three stepgrandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; sisters, Kay (Tinker) Lowe of Soddy Daisy; Rena (Jimmy) Foster and Brenda (Jerry) Cambron, all of Calhoun, Ga.; brother, Thomas (Beverly) Walker of Soddy Daisy and many nieces, nephews and friends.
The family would like to thank Hospice of Chattanooga for their loving care.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. on Tuesday, Jan. 5, in the Legacy Funeral Home chapel with Brother Vernon Sneed officiating. Interment will follow in Dodd Cemetery.
The family will receive friends after 2 p.m. on Monday, Jan. 4, at the funeral home.
Arrangements are by locally-owned and operated Legacy Funeral Home and Cremation Center, 8911 Dallas Hollow Road, Soddy Daisy, Tn.
