Luther Clark was the son of William Clark, 1774-1814, and Rachel Carson 1778-after 1850, he was born in Orange Co, North Caroline. Luther married Susan Whitefield 16 July 1829 White Co, Tennessee. They had 9 children. Luther was a private in Company C 1st Tennessee Mounted Infantry, "Union Army". He was on the Muster In Roll 3 Dec 1863 and on the Muster Out Roll on 16 Dec 1864. Luther died 20 May 1865 of a "fever". Inscription on Stone reads: Luther Clark, Co, C 1st Tenn MT'D INF - ALLISON CEMETERY, Window Cliff Road, Baxter, Putnam County, TN.
