Obit: William O. "Bill" Fleming, 84, of Bristol, Tennessee, died Friday, March 14, 2008, at Wellmont Hospice House. He was born in Johnson City, Tennessee to the late James O. and Berta C. Fleming and was a life long resident of Bristol. He was a graduate of V.P.I., served in WWII, and retired from the L.M. Berry and Company. He was a member of First Presbyterian Church and the A.C. Adams Sunday School Class. He was preceded in death by his loving wife of 60 years, Elizabeth Rutherford Fleming. Bill was an avid golfer, lover of music, and always enjoyed the friendship and humor of those around him.
Survivors include two daughters, Nancy F. Rudolph and her husband Ken of Weaverville, North Carolina, and Lucy F. Crawford and her husband Jeff of Hendersonville, Tennessee; three grandchildren, Betsy Hauptvogel, Courtney Windham and Betsy Crawford, and four great grandchildren.
The family will receive friends from 1 until 1:50 Sunday afternoon, March 16, 2008, at First Presbyterian Church. The funeral service will follow at 2:00 with Dr. Gordon Turnbull officiating. The committal service and burial will follow in Shelby Hills Cemetery. Honorary pallbearers will be Jeff Crawford, Ken Rudolph, Ben Rutherford, Dave Rutherford, Bob Pierson, John Cavett, Jr., Harrison Rudolph, Bill Rutherford, Charles O. Harris, and Charles B. Moore. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be sent to First Presbyterian Church, 701 Florida Avenue, Bristol, TN 37620 and to Wellmont Hospice House, 280 Steele?s Road, Bristol, Tennessee 37620. The family would like to thank Dr. David Thompson for his excellent medical care, the staff of Bristol Regional Medical Center, and the staff of Wellmont Hospice House.
