James Burgett, 83, of Atoka, passed away on Tuesday, September 13. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. on Friday, September 16 at the Covington Funeral Home chapel with interment to follow in Magnolia Gardens Cemetery. The family will receive friends two hours prior to the service at the funeral home. Mr. Burgett was a retired truck driver for Kimberly-Clark, a U.S. Marine Veteran of the Korean War and a member of the First Baptist Church of Atoka. He is survived by his wife, Judy Marie Burgett; two daughters, Cindy (Brian) Williams of Memphis and Amy (Ben) Richardson of Atoka; one son, David (Amanda) Burgett and five grandchildren.
