William "Tommy" Martin, 59, of Burlison, formerly of Memphis, retired police officer with the Memphis Police Department after 20 years and a shop attendant with Jay-Ton Construction, died on Thursday at Baptist Hospital Memphis. Graveside services will be Sunday at 2 p.m. at the Magnolia Gardens Cemetery in Covington. Covington Funeral Home has charge. He was a member of the Smyrna Baptist Church. He is survived by three daughters, Connie Sturm of Elkhart, Ind., Hope Martin of Memphis, and Amber Martin of Florida; one son, Tommy Martin of Elkhart, Ind.; his mother, Mary Elizabeth Martin of Memphis; three sisters, Betty Rhodes and Cathy Picheloupe, both of Memphis and Theresa Morris of Olive Branch; one brother and sister-in-law, Mickey and Joyce Martin of Burlison; and four grandchildren.
