This is one of at least four cemeteries containing the Buchanan name in Lincoln County. The cemetery occupies a large area on top of a wooded hill. Approximately 25 legible markers exist. John and Hannah Buchanan's graves and those of many of the prominent local persons are on the crest and north side of the hill. There are sunken graves and field stone markers for a great number of other graves in this section. The south side of the hill contains many graves of either less prosperous white persons or black persons. These are either unmarked, marked by fieldstones, and a few have fieldstones with initials scratched on them.
