Maurice E. Watkins, 80, passed away on Monday, Nov. 27, 2017, in Bradenton, Fla., following a brief illness.

He was born and raised in Chattanooga, Tenn., and was the son of the late Joe and Rubye Watkins. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Shirley Holcomb Watkins; and second wife, Maureen Tucker Watkins; brother, David L. Watkins; daughter, Terri Lynn Overby; and great-granddaughter, Farryn Elena Kendall.

Maurice was a veteran of the U.S. Army, 101st Airborne, from 1955-1958.

He retired from Corley Manufacturing Company in Chattanooga after 25 years. Survivors include a brother, Joe Alan Watkins, of Chattanooga; daughters, Susan Kendall, of Harrison, Janet McInturff, of Signal Mountain, and Andrea (Anthony) Harris, of Cleveland; and a son-in-law, Chuck Overby, of Harrison; Grandchildren are; Lauren (John) Messar, of Birchwood, Kevin (Cait) Kendall, of Ringgold, Jennifer (Steve) Baggett and Jordan (Derrick) Raley, of Signal Mountain, Brad (Amber) Campbell, of Hixson, Reagan Weathers, of Ewa Beach, Hawaii, and Haley Weathers, of Ooltewah; great-grandchildren include; Talan DeFoor, Everett Kendall, Bennett Kendall, Parker Blanks, Maddie Lynne Campbell, and Samuel Raley; also a nephew, David (Valerie) Watkins, of Seffner, Fla.
A private burial in Bartlebaugh Baptist Church Cemetery in Chattanooga will be held at a later date.
