Jimmy Douglas Godsey, Sr., 70, of Spring City, died Sunday Oct. 5, 2008, at Spring City Care Center.

Mr. Godsey was born in Dayton, the son of the late Charlie Woodrow Godsey and Lela Russell Godsey Pendleton. He was a farmer and of the Baptist faith.

He was preceded in death by his brothers, Earl and Andy Godsey and sisters, Ina Mae Godsey, Laura Mae Smith and Ellie Phillips.

Survivors include his daughters, Louise (Eric) Couch and Polly (Wendell) Massengill both of Dayton, and Mendy Martin of Spring City; son, Jimmy Doug (Melinda) Godsey, Jr. of Spring City; brothers, Earnest, Lidge and Herbert Godsey all of Spring City; sisters, Ruby Boles, Bonnie Loden, and Patsy Holloway all of Spring City and Nannie Jenkins of Athens, Tenn.; eleven grandchildren; one great grandchild; and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held Tuesday, Oct. 7, 2008 at 11 a.m. in the chapel of Vaughn Funeral Home with Rev. Clyde Fitzgerald officiating. Burial will be at Friendship Cemetery.

The family will receive friends Monday, Oct. 6, 2008, form 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. at the funeral home.

Vaughn Funeral Home of Dayton is in charge of arrangements.
