William Homer Smith, age 81, of Blountville, TN passed away Monday, January 17, 2011 at his home.

He was born July 3, 1929, to the late Clarence and Georgia Roberts Smith. In addition to his parents he was also preceded in death by one brother, Jim Smith.

Mr. Smith was a veteran in the U.S. Army and served in the Korean War. He owned and operated Jays Wheel Alignment and retired from J.R. "Bob" Smith Oil Company. He was of the Pentecostal faith.

Survivors include his loving wife of 38 years, Eleanor Kincer Smith; two daughters, Lesa Miller and husband, Eddie and Penelope Baker, all of Blountville, TN; one son, David Wampler; four grandchildren, Sandy Miller of Jonesborough, TN; William Christopher Brown and Brian Homer Baker, both of Blountville, TN and Candace McNutt of Kingsport, TN; five great-grandchildren, Zachary, Hannah, Dawson, Austin and Brody; two brothers, Bob Smith and wife, Rosalie of Bristol and Don Smith and wife, Janet of Atlanta, GA; two sisters, Gray Rasnick and husband, Sam of Bristol and Betty Winters of Atlanta, GA; several nieces and nephews and his best friend, Gary Davison.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, P.O. Box 1000, Dept. 142, Memphis, TN 38148.

The funeral service will be conducted at 7:00 P.M., Wednesday, January 19, 2011 in Akard Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor David Salley officiating. A private committal service with Military Rites conducted by the Bristol VFW Honor Guard and entombment will be held in Glenwood Cemetery Mausoleum. Pallbearers will be Brian Baker, Christopher Brown, Eddie Miller, Chad McNutt, Howard Fleenor and Chad Lindamood. Honorary pallbearers will be Gary Davison and Robbie Miller. The family will receive friends from 5:00 – 7:00 P.M., Wednesday prior to the service at Akard Funeral Home.
