May 10, 1832 - March 11, 1931

Born a slave, Benjamin was sent by his master Mistress Caroline Robertson to serve in the Confederate Army. Served with Confederate Generals Longstreet and Beauregard at the battles of Franklin, Tn., Pulaski, Bulls Gap, Mississippi and Chattanooga.
