Christine Carnell Hoyer, 76, died Saturday, September 30, 2000, at her home in Abingdon. She was born in Richmond, VA, a daughter of the late Christian and Margaret Sutherlin Carnell, and had lived most of her life in the Bristol-Abingdon area.
She was the widow of Edward C. Hoyer.
She is survived by a daughter, Betty Bruce Hoyer Tickle of Hilton Head Island, South Carolina; a granddaughter, Tracy Gilman; three grandsons, John D. "Spike" Tickle II, Jeffrey Edward Tickle, and Thomas "Tripp" Morton III; one great granddaughter, Madeline Blair Gilman; one great grandson, Jeffrey Edward Tickle II; two sisters, Louise Guthman of Richmond, and Margaret Olson of Sylmar, CA; a brother, Donald C. Carnell of Richmond; a sister-in-law, Betty Sweeny of Richmond; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by a daughter, Diane Hoyer Spenceley, and a sister, Ina C. Flynn.
The funeral service will be conducted at 11:00 A.M. Monday in Glenwood Cemetery with Rev. Dr. Paul Hamilton Fuller IV officiating. Entombment will follow.
