Roby Jackson Shelley, 91, of Bristol, Tennessee, died on Friday February 18, 2011 at Bristol Regional Medical Center. He was born in Damascus, Virginia to the late Roby and Ora Lee Garrett Shelley and had lived most of his life in Bristol.

He was a veteran of the U.S. Army, served in the 3rd Army in Europe under General George C. Patton and served a year in the Army's occupation of Europe. He was a residential building contractor for nearly 50 years and the owner of Roby Shelley Construction Company for 40 years. He was a loyal and loved member of Addilynn Memorial United Methodist Church since 1948.

Mr. Shelley is survived by his loving wife of 62 years, Edna Bell Shelley; a daughter, Robynn Wingate and her husband Mark of Bluff City; brother, Frank Shelley and his wife Patsy of Abingdon; granddaughters, Shelley Martin and her husband Christopher and Stacy Wingate; several nieces and nephews, and special friends Andy Tuell and Eddie Woodlief.

The family will receive friends from 5 until 7 o'clock Sunday at Oakley-Cook Funeral Home.

The funeral service will be conducted at 4 o'clock Monday afternoon at Addilynn Memorial United Methodist Church with Rev. Lloyd Jones officiating.

The committal service and entombment will follow in the Heritage Chapel of Memories in Glenwood Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be Bobby Shelley, David Robbins, Roger Trinkle, Jack Gent, Bob Bushong, Gary Hunt, Les Ferrell, Bill Crusenberry, David Bell and Bob Hodge. Honorary pallbearers will be Ed Reed, Don Cooper, Bill Cross, J.C. Clark, Dr. Rick Guthry and John R. Leseuer. Addilynn Memorial United Methodist Church, 3225 Avoca Road, Bristol, TN 37620.
