Born in Amelia County, Virginia
Died in White County, Tennessee

HENRY MARSH was born in 1761 in Amelia County, Virginia to unknown parents. He died on Sunday, September 25, 1859 in White County, Tennessee in his 98th year. His first wife may have been Agness Bundy. At this time there is no information on her background except that she may have been of the Quaker persuasion. Henry was married the second time to Phereby Harvey in 1816 in Overton County, Tennessee. Phereby was born in North Carolina around 1791 and died in White County sometime around 1870 while living with her son, Jehoida Henry Marsh, and his wife, Angeletta Wynn. Henry and Agness had two known sons: Stephen and John A. Marsh. With his second wife, Phereby, two children were born: Jehoida Henry Marsh and Angeletta Marsh."

"Henry served two volunteer enlistments in the Virginia Militia during the Revolutionary War. He fought in major battles at Stono Swamp and Camden ... both in South Carolina. His enlistments came between 1778 and 1880. Through two descendants who gave similar stories, it may be assumed that Henry's ancestry was Irish. Henry was born when America was under the control of England and he was a subject of King George III. During his lifetime, Henry lived in Russell and Washington Counties in Virginia, Surry County, North Carolina (No longer exists), McMinn and Bledsoe Counties in Tennessee, Wayne County, Kentucky, spent time in Missouri and lived in White County, Tennessee for his last 29 years. In Tennessee, he lived on a farm 11 miles north of Sparta towards Monterey. The farm, on the Calfkiller River, was once owned by Richard Bradley."
