Captured on Little Toqua by Confederate Capt W.R. Abbott's scouts. Killed here December 8, 1864 while enroute to Ashville jail. His widow Rebecca Kirkland Shaw buried at Black Ankle Isabella Bob Cemetery. Their sons Jeff & Jim were killed by Kirkland Bushwhackers 1863.
