Grover C. Petty, 88, of Soddy-Daisy, passed away Wednesday, March 3, 2010, in a local hospital.
Mr. Petty retired from Cavalier Corporation after more than 30 years of service. He was a lifelong resident of Soddy-Daisy and was a member of Pilgrim's Rest Baptist Church. Grover was a very special uncle and dear to his family.
He was preceded in death by his parents, George Petty and Hester Morgan Petty; sisters, Helen Wright and Lucille Hodge; brothers, Montague Petty; Walter Reno, Tom Reno and Carl Reno.
Survivors include his nieces and nephews who were like his own children, Darlene and Jim Varner; George and Patty Wright; Don and Gayla Wright, Ron and Linda Wright.
Additional survivors are his sister, Louise Fuller Green; several other nieces and nephews; and caregivers, Lois Jones and Nancy Marquez.
Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. today in the Legacy Funeral Home chapel with Dr. Mike Young officiating.
Interment will follow in Coleman Cemetery with military honors. Soddy-Daisy Senior Neighbors will serve as honorary pallbearers.
The family would like to extend a very special thanks to Dr. Gould, Ginger Swallows and the staff of the second floor at Memorial North Park.
