Samuel Ralph "Dalkie" James, 83, of Soddy-Daisy, died at his home Friday, Oct. 20, 2006.

Mr. James was a member of Christ Family Church in Soddy-Daisy. He was a member with the Ironworkers Local 704, American Legion Post 107, Soddy Masonic Lodge 418 F&AM and Alhambra Shriners. Mr. James was a Navy veteran from World War II. He was the oldest member of Post 107 in Soddy and a past commander.

Mr. James is survived by his wife of 65 years, Ruth James; three sons, Kenny and Charlotte James, LeRoy James, Darrell and Gayle James, all of Soddy-Daisy; five daughters, Faye White, Geneene and Junior Gann, Dee Dee Daughtrey, Donna and Don Clingan, Shelia and Terry Smith, all of Soddy-Daisy; 15 grandchildren; 25 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be at 3:30 today at Williamson & Sons Funeral Home with the Rev. Calvin Nunley officiating. Interment will follow in Millsap Cemetery on Soddy Mountain.
Pallbearers will be Donnie Clingan, Mike James, Steve Gann, Raymond Gann, Chad White, and Dick Ward, with Ironworkers Local 704 serving as honorary pallbearers.

Visitation is from 9 a.m. until time of services Sunday.
The family would like to give special thanks to the Hospice workers who were such a comfort to the family. Thanks to the funeral home, and all those who sent flowers and food.
Arrangements are by Williamson & Sons Funeral Home, Soddy-Daisy.
