Glenn obituary:

Glenn Jackson Skiles, 79, of Soddy Daisy, was called home to be with his Savior on Friday, March 13, 2009 surrounded by his family. 

Glenn was a member of the 1st Infantry and served his country courageously in the Korean War. He will always be remembered for his tireless work ethic, devout Christian faith and relentless devotion to his family.  Glenn was a retired iron worker and belonged to the Iron Workers Union #704 as well as a skilled carpenter, mechanic and mason.  A member of the Mowbray Church of God, he was a leader in the church with an unshakeable faith in his Savior Jesus Christ.  Glenn was a song leader and loved Gospel music. 

He was preceded in death by his father, Luther Skiles and mother, Blanche Griffin Skiles.

He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Louise Grant Skiles; son, Rick Skiles; daughters, Sandra Pollard and Carolyn (Ben) Parker; grandchildren, Mark Maynor, Matt Pollard, Eric (Sarah) Parker and Evan Parker; great grandchildren, Josh Maynor, Jessica Maynor, Mattie Will, Hannah and Rachel Parker and Jackson Pollard; sister-in-law, Ruth Gann along with close friend Scrap Ledford.

Services will be Monday, March 16, 2009, at 2:00 p.m. in the funeral home chapel with Rev. Scott Morrow officiating.  Burial will be in Millsaps Cemetery with Military Honors. His grandchildren will serve as pallbearers. Visitation is Sunday from 4:00 to 9:00 p.m. at the funeral home. The family especially appreciates Tim Ryder and Chaplain Les and everyone from Amedisys Hospice.  Memorial contributions may be made to Amedisys Hospice, 7161 Lee Highway, Suite 400, Chattanooga, TN  37421.
