When Charles Frank Vance was born on April 23, 1878, in Fulton, Kentucky, his father, William, was 28 and his mother, Theodosia, was 20. He married Genevieve Maddox on August 15, 1906, in Hot Spring, Arkansas. They had ten children in 24 years. He died on October 18, 1957, in Memphis, Tennessee, at the age of 79, and was buried in Ellendale, Tennessee.
