Janet Elaine Gill, 66, of Bartlett, went to be with the Lord on November 14, 2010. She had been a patient at Galloway Health Care and passed Sunday with her husband at her side. She had a teaching degree from Florida State University and a master?s degree from Union University. She taught in the Shelby County school system for over 18 years, teaching at Alturia and Bartlett Elementary as a 5th grade teacher. She spent her last years helping her husband at Covington Pike Chiropractic Clinic. She loved the outdoors; walking was her favorite, besides tennis and bowling. She was a member of Bellevue Baptist Church. She is survived by her husband, Dr. Tom Gill; two daughters, Kimberly Sarmiento of Jackson, TN, and Ashley Grimaldi and grandson Alexander of El Sequendo, CA. She also leaves a sister, Terri Strohl of Elwood, IN and a brother, Randy Winterrowd of Ft. Myers, FL; numerous aunts, uncles, and a nephew, Sam Strohl. She will be greatly missed. The family asks that in lieu of flowers, donations be made to the Alzheimer?s Association. Visitation will be held at the Covington Funeral Home in Covington on Thursday, November 18 from 5 p.m. until 7 p.m. Funeral services will be held on Friday, November 19 at 11 a.m. at the Covington Funeral Home with services conducted by the Reverend Terry Cobb. Interment will take place at Magnolia Gardens Cemetery in Covington.
