Thomas Smith Watkins born 1812, died 1888. That is what is on his headstone. However, since I possess a family bible which belonged to his son-in-law, Britton Fletcher Snipes, contained in that bible is Thomas S. Watkins' full birth date of 9 Apr 1812. His full death date is also known from his obit found in the 24 Mar 1888 issue of the NEW ERA newspaper of McMinnville, TN, Thomas' obit which states he died "Thursday of last week", and calculated, would make his death date 15 Mar 1888.
