Former Como resident Ramona Huttenstine, 79, of Martinez, Calif., died Monday, June 15, 2009, at St. Francis Memorial Hospital in San Francisco. Her funeral will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Thompson Creek Baptist Church in Como, where she was a member. Kerry Shopher will officiate. Burial will be in Olive Branch Cemetery between Como and Cottage Grove. Chosen as pallbearers are Jerry Simmons, Harrel Shopher, L.W. Greer, Mike Baker, Ed Goad and Myron Klutts. Visitation will be 4-8 p.m. today at Ridgeway Funeral Home and after 9 a.m. Saturday at the church.

Born in Weakley County on Feb.16, 1930, she is the daughter of William Alton Farmer and Edna Powers Farmer, now both deceased. She was married on April 7, 1980*, to Ron Huttenstine, who died Nov. 14, 2003. A family member said Huttenstine was very active in a senior citizens center in Pleasant Hill, Calif.

She leaves a daughter: Kathy Powers of Martinez; two sons: Ted Kirkland of Como and Bill (Nancy) Kirkland of Cottage Grove; one brother: Don Farmer of Fort Worth, Tarrant County, Texas; Three grandchildren: Misty Kirkland of Georgia, Shannon Williams of Jacksonville, Ark., and Maggie Resing of Rohnert Park, Calif.; and five great-grandchildren: Mitchell Resing of Martinez, Alexis and Scarlett Resing, both of Rohner Park, and Trenton and McKenna Williams, both of Jacksonville. She also was preceded in death by a grandchild: Ravi Kirkland.

* The obituary is in error. Ramona and Ron Huttenstine were married 7 Feb 1964 in Puryear, Henry County, Tennessee.
